Winner's Choice Tournaments - New in 2008

SPNY will be organizing three (3) basic types of tournaments. These are Single Elimination Tournaments (SE), Round Robin Tournaments (RR), and Double Elimination Tournaments (DE).

ALL SPNY tournaments will be played for charity. At least 10% of the event's total proceeds from park admissions and the sale of concessions will be donated to the winning team's charity of choice. During holiday "Mixer" Tournaments (ie. Memorial Day Weekend, Independence Day Weekend, and our Autumn Mixer in 2008), the winning teams in BOTH divisions may choose a charity and the donation will be equally split with 5% going to each charity.

The prize values for our tournaments are computed based on a number of variables. These variables include 1) team participation 2) per team entrance fee and 3) the type of tournament (SE, RR, or DE).

In SPNY-organized single elimination tournaments (SE), teams are eliminated after one loss. SE tournaments are played at SPNY with a minimum of 8 teams and a maximum of 32 teams.

Level One SE tournaments require a per team entrance fee of $150. The total prize value in a SE 150 at a 32 team MAX is $3200 with three (3) top prize positions.

Level Two SE tournaments require a per team entrance fee of $200. The total prize value in a SE 200 at a 32 team MAX is $4800 with three (3) top prize positions.

SPNY-organized Round Robin Tournaments (RR) guarantee each team at least three (3) games. These tournaments will include at least 6 teams and up to 10 teams.

Double Elimination Tournaments (DE) allow your team two (2) losses. SPNY DE tournaments are played with a minimum of 12 teams and a maximum of 16 teams.

*Most SPNY tournaments will be played as RR/DE tournaments. Tournaments will be played in Round Robin style for team participation up to ten (10) and will default to Double Elimination Tournaments for team participation greater than ten (10) and up to sixteen (16) teams.

Level One RR/DE tournaments require a per team entrance fee of $250. The total prize value in an RR/DE 250 at a 16 team MAX is $2400 with three (3) top prize positions.

Level Two RR/DE tournaments require a per team entrance fee of $300. The total prize value in an RR/DE 300 at a 16 team MAX is $3200 with three (3) top prize positions.

SPNY Tournament Rules and Guidelines

Prior to entering an SPNY tournament, you must know that we do not tolerate cheating of ANY kind. Any team who is caught cheating WILL be eliminated from the tournament and will forfeit ALL tournament entrance fees.

SPNY promotes a sense of fair play AT ALL TIMES and we encourage good sportsmanship from ALL of our teams. We will NOT tolerate fighting and/or the use of profanities on the field.

Please respect the officials AT ALL TIMES - even if you strongly disagree with a ruling. If your team has reached an impasse with an official, please leave it in the hands of the on-site League Administrator to make the final call.
